We are now bringing up beautiful sinker pine logs that were milled over a century ago. This is some of the best wood available today. These trees were cut from virgin forests that dominated this area for centuries. The axe marks are still visible on these logs. Some are cut with crosscut saws. All are branded by the timber man who cut them down and cut them into log length for transport by water to the mill downstream..

We are finding that many of these logs have curly grain, which adds greatly to the beauty of the exposed wood. Apparently, the densest logs had tight grain and curly grain and these were some of the ones to sink and not make it all the way down the river to the sawmills.

These beautiful logs have remained on the bottom for the past century until our divers and water loggers located them in a vast area in south west Louisiana.

We are now making the first of these logs available to the public.

Most of this material is being quarter-sawed, kiln-dried, and milled into unique beautiful flooring. The result is a floor like no other. Beautiful colors that only come from years underwater show up when processed in this way. Its a floor that has a rich legacy and ageless beauty.
